Cybertecture Egg, Mumbai
Although slow due to the current global economic crisis, Mumbai continues its boom in new buildings and growing cosmopolitan areas, challenging other fast developing cities like Dubai and Shanghai.
This is evident by the recent appointment of James Law to create the Cybertecture Egg building. Vijay Associates (Wadhwa) Developers commissioned the project and stressed a willingness to create an office unseemly to any other in the city.
According to the team, the oval egg-like shape concept has been inspired by the earth. Their goal is to create a building with an evolving ecosystem that will sustain 13 floors of office space, while weighing heavily the needs of its inhabitants and the human experience.
The egg shape differs significantly from traditional standard buildings because it reduces the surface area by 20 percent. It also positions the building at an angle that alleviates the solar gain of the building.
Scheduled to be completed by the end of 2010, the Cybertecture Egg is aesthetically pleasing and we believe it will be welcomed as a breath of fresh air from conventional buildings. The Egg will be architectural icon for the new Central Business District of Mumbai.
