International Convention Center

International Convention Center

The recently launched International Convention Center, by Mansilla & Tunon Architects, will transform Madrid’s bland skyline. The new center’s cylindrical shape will be covered with solar panels and precised curves to maximise solar energy. The project will serve as a beacon of green engineering as it plans to introduce 80, 000 square meters of green space in the city and have a built-in system to utilize rainwater.

Some more fun facts about the new structure:

-  It will be 110 meters tall and cover an area of 100, 000 square meters of built space, in addition to the previously mentioned green area.

- The cylinder shape is a completely unique approach in engineering. The building will be lined with photovoltaic panels and completely covered in glass.

- The center will be a six story building with an auditorium that could house up to 5, 000 people. It will also have a number of meeting rooms, event halls and exposition centers.

Lets hope the International Convention Center will breath new life to the much needed city of Madrid.
