MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program
Wednesday, MoMa announced the winner of the 2009 MoMa/P.S.1 Young Architects Program competition for this summer. MOS Architects will have the honor of installing a temporary piece for MoMa’s P.S.1 initiative, where every year they select a group of emerging architects to exhibit their project at the courtyard entrance of P.S.1.
With an alloted budget of US$70, 000, architects were encourage to experiment with different elements of shade, water, and seating arrangements to envision their projects.
MOS’s proposal, entitled afterparty, include tall hut-like “chimneys” with dark thatched skin. The structures provide shades and incorporates the courtyard to create a breeze and cool air. MOS’s afterparty project is heading by Michail Meredith and Hilary Sample. MOS is based in New Haven, Connecticut and Cambridge, Massachusetts.
This year, MoMA/P.S.1 Young Architects Program will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
