Gerhard Richter, Vienna

Gerhard Richter has been hailed as a phenomenon in the international art scene, known for his diverse and largely regarded work with quasi-photorealistic paintings and abstract compositions in brilliant colors.

His latest exhibition, entitle GERHARD RICHTER: RETROSPECTIVE, will be at the Albertina in Vienna from today through May 3, 2009. The Albertina will display 80 oil paintings and 80 watercolours along with a selection of drawings gathered from the many different phases of Richter’s artistic career from 1963 to 2007.

Albertina’s special treat is presenting an expanded selection of Richter’s works on paper, which have not been shown on this scale for nearly a decade. After Vienna, the exhibition will travel to the Küppersmühle Museum of Modern Art in Duisburg.
