For all of you passionate about the work of Andy Warhol, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) has a special treat for you. The exhibition entitled “Warhol Live: Music and Dance in Andy Warhol’s Work” will run its course this Sunday January 18th after a successful show of nearly four months. This is your last chance to get your Warhol fix before the collection is split and sent back to the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh and to other public and private collections in Europe and North America.
According to MMFA, the exhibition explores all the pervading and fundamental role of music and dance in Warhol’s work and life. It brings together some 640 works and objects, paintings, silkscreens, photographs, works on paper, installations, films, videos, album covers, as well as objects and documents from the artist’s personal archives.
Liza Minnelli, Grace Jones, Mick Jagger, and Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup Cans are all on display along with lesser-known works, like illustrations and album covers.
The exhibition makes a strong unique argument of how music and dance is an essential component in the work of Andy Warhol.
