Brunost Norwegian Brown Cheese

Brunost Norwegian Brown Cheese

Brunost is a classic Norwegian brown cheese, or caramelized cheese, that could go with nearly everything. We recommend it on top of French toast or Belgium waffles.

The process of producing the cheese is long, yet simple. Brunost is made by boiling whey, milk, and cream together. The liquids slowly evaporate into caramelized lactose giving the cheese its delicious sweet taste. After these steps, the cheese is then cooled to give it texture and structure.

The most popular brand of brown cheese in Oslo is called Gudbrandsdalost, which adds goat’s milk to its ingredients.

If you are a cheese aficionado, you will like Brunost. However be warn, a little taste will leave you craving for more.
