Louis Vuitton’s Stephen Sprouse Launch

This week we’ve seen the launch of Louis Vuitton’s homage to Stephen Sprouse, the artist, fashion designer, and all around rock-star. The party began last Thursday with a cocktail soiree at Vuitton’s Greene Street store, in New York. Fashionistas gathered to celebrate the legacy of Sprouse’s glamour punk style.

Surrounded by graffiti and bright glow colors, the reissued Louis Vuitton & Stephen Sprouse bags from 2001 were on display. The event was followed by a sneak peek of “Rock On Mars,” an  exhibition of Sprouse’s original memorabilia at the Deitch Projects gallery, on Wooster Street.  The display, entitled “Sprouse’s rock and roll futuristic vision,”  will run until February 28, 2009.

Vuitton also launched www.welovesprouse.com, a website dedicated to Sprouse’s work, and Mauricio and Roger Padilha, founders of MAO MAG a bi-annual fashion week glossy magazine, have recently released a book on the artist called “The Stephen Sprouse Book.”

In the world of Vuitton fashion, 2009 is starting off with a splash of bold colors and punk sophistication.
